Alternate Charge against Tuition of out-of-state Temporary Residents of Marist and Vassar Colleges

With the continuing escalation of exuberant taxes that have been imposed upon all of us, in support of additional Police and Fire services that has become necessarily needed for “self serving” safety services provided “free of charge”, due to the population growth explosion caused by imported out-of-state temporary resident students (approximately 15,000 presently), brought into our town by the two  “tax exempt” highly profitable colleges, MARIST and VASSAR; who give absolutely nothing back in return to the Town of Poughkeepsie taxpayers, except for student anarchy and tremendous unnecessary student pedestrian traffic hazards.

I intend to propose and support into town law, an “Alternate Charge”, (yet to be determined) imposed against the amount of tuition that each imported out-of-state temporary resident enrolled student pay’s, to the “highly profitable” Marist and Vassar Colleges; in the extreme effort to lower the tax burden upon the Town of Poughkeepsie taxpayers, by offsetting the additional costs to the taxpayers for support of additional Police and Fire services, that has become necessarily needed for safety services, that has been continually provided “free of charge” for the resident population growth caused by these aforementioned colleges.
