Carmel Police Officer Faces Assault Charge

CARMEL - A Town of Carmel Police Officer was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting his daughter, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

Paul M. O'Connor, 44, was accused of hitting his daughter on Halloween. Police say the 17-year-old girl, who had bruises on her face and torso, reported the incident Monday.

O'Connor was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and released without bail. An order of protection was issued ordering him to stay away from his daughter, police said.
