Man Gets Prison for Police Chase, Crash
A Connecticut man who led state troopers on a high-speed case in the Harlem Valley before crashing into a police car was sentenced Friday to up to three years in state prison.
Dutchess County Court Judge Gerald V. Hayes imposed a 1 1/2-to-3-year sentence on 35-year-old Timothy Crowley, of Brookfield, Conn.
Crowley entered a guilty plea last month to reckless endangerment, a felony. He admitted he fled from state police when they tried to stop his car in the Town of Amenia on Oct. 2, 2003. Court documents say Crowley was driving at speeds up to 75 mph on Route 22 before he crashed into a police car in the Town of Dover.
Crowley apologized Friday for the crime.
“I made some very poor choices that night,” he said. “I’m just thankful the state trooper was not hurt.”
Besides the prison term, Crowley will be required to pay the state police $2,880.11 in restitution for damage to the police car.
