FISHKILL - The Village Police Department Chief, who has been suspended from his job, will face a disciplinary hearing Monday, they Mayor said.

Chief Thomas Wohlrab was suspended September 16, Mayor James Miccio said. Wohlrab was initially suspended without pay, but is now suspended with pay because civil service law prevents suspensions without pay for more than 30 days before a hearing, Miccio said.

The Village did not publicly announce Wohlrab's suspension.

Miccio declined to say why Wohlrab was suspended. "He's up on disciplinary charges. It's an employee matter," he said. "I just don't think it would be appropriate to start the hearing in the paper befor he has a chance to have a hearing."

In Wohlrab's absence, the department  is being overseen by Lt. Bob Bessman, Miccio said.

Wohlrab could not be reached for comment. Village trustees either declined to comment of did not return phone calls.
