Ex-Fire Chief Awaiting Sentence for Drug Ring Role

A former fire chief who was part of a regional drug ring will be sentenced late this month in federal court.

Todd Paulin, the former chief of the Chelsea Fire District, pleaded guilty in December to one count of using a communication facility -- a telephone --in committing, causing and facilitating the commission of a felony, conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute five kilograms and more of cocaine.

He was one of 13 men who were arrested on May 13, when the FBI and state police seized seven pounds of c9ocaine with a street value of more than$500,000, five handguns, $177,000 in cash and 10 cars and trucks.

Paulin's sentencing date was scheduled for mid-March and has since been twice adjourned. He is now scheduled for sentencing on April 27.
